Psychosexual therapy
A confidential space to explore desire, intimacy and sexual wellbeing.
Sexual difficulties are far more common than most people realise, and they’re often the hardest to talk about.
One of the ways psychosexual therapy helps is through centering sex in the conversation from the start, reducing shame and giving it space. Whether the difficulty is emotional, relational, physical or a mix of all three, we will explore your experiences with care in a safe, non‑judgemental space.
Areas I work with
❋ Desire, arousal and orgasm
❋ Difficulty maintaining erections
❋ Delayed and premature/early ejaculation
❋ Pain and penetration difficulties (vaginismus, vulvodynia etc.)
❋ Fertility, abortion and reproductive loss
❋ Sexuality & gender identity exploration
❋ Pleasure, kinks and fetishes
❋ Sexual violence and childhood sexual abuse
❋ Relationships and communication
You don’t need to know exactly what the problem is; many people come with a sense that something isn’t working, even if they can’t name it yet.
In sex therapy, we explore what sex and intimacy mean to you, and examine unconscious sexual ‘scripts’ that perpetuate cycles and patterns.
Using a biopsychosocial model of psychosexual therapy, we will uncover the physical and psychological factors, at play, as well as the impact of culture and society.
While continuing to be rooted in psychodynamic theory, psychosexual work will combine somatic awareness with more cognitive methods, practical tools and psycho-education, tailored to your individual needs.
There is no physical examination and no sexual activity in sessions. Everything happens through conversation, reflection and guided exploration.
